Apartments

Post by tlk » Tue, 03 Oct 2006 10:23 am

My husband and I and our 2 1/2 year old son are moving to Singapore. We are trying to decide on apartments. We are thinking about the Orchard area. Does anyone know of a good apartment complex? Also, would you do a Serviced Apartment over a private apartment? I was just worried that a Service Apartment would be more transient and we are staying for 2 years so I want my son to have some kids to play with.

Thank you for your help.

Serviced apartments are much more expensive than normal apartments, they're good for a few weeks or months but make little sense for several years.

As for finding a "good" apartment, this site is run by a real estate agency -- give 'em a ring.

Just came back from a house hunting trip so I can give you some ideas. We are in a similar boat but our son is 8y/o. Let me know what you are looking for and your budget and I may be able to suggest somethings that might fit.

Try not to limit yourself around Orchard area. You should also look around Holland area (which is not far from Orchard) area i.e Sommerville Park. (Townhouse or apratment) they have larger area for your kid to run around.

Try Tanglin View complex - it was swarming with kids (all ages) when we inspected there. Also quite close to the city and MRT.

Good luck with you search!

I have started my (hunting) journey few weeks ago... Have you seen the Burlington Quare yet?

I am interested in one apt there... is it too noisy there (and a lot of people in the area when I first came) and so how is the surrounding security?

Thx.
