Yes, there are companies/programmes such as Morris Allen and I Can Read. There are also a lot of International Schools here so if she is a qualified teacher, she may be able to pick up a job at one.
Good luck!

What do you need to become an english teacher here?

Post by yorkshirelass » Wed, 25 Oct 2006 3:50 pm

Hi - yorkshirelass' husband here! I'm here from England on a DP, and have been having trouble finding work in public relations, due to only having two years experience.

What are the options for teaching english here? What training do I need?

I've been trained in Public Relations to degree level, but want to do something else now. Can anyone help?

I think you relied to me once before direbtly but I had accidentally deleted the link. There are many companies out there offering teaching English jobs. But the jobs providers here are merely reflecting wht the market expects. If your wife is Indian then she would find it abit more difficult to teach english. As I suggested she should look at private tutoring. Build a network within the very large Indian Expat community here and there you will get contacts. Private tutoring is in many ways better becaue you are your own boss, AND it is more lucrative in the medium termas you show results. Good luck
