NTUC Childcare Centres

Post by ksl » Fri, 22 Sep 2006 10:51 am

I read an article in yesterdays paper, about a child care centre taking kids on a outing, the parents were asked to sign forms, that they wouldn't hold NTUC liable if anything happend to their children, this is compulsory in all NTUC child care units.

So this message is for NTUC & the Government, That seem to have there fingers in everything here in Singapore, even control of insurance companies.

Let it be Known, that we do hold NTUC responsible for our children, and NTUC have a legal right to be insured for looking after our children, when we pay fees to these so called businesses.

And I think its time that, prents pulled together to get this sorted out, and send a petition, to NTUC to get there act in order! IT'S A BLOODY DISGRACE!!! Thats for the benefit of the website monitors. And forcing parents to sign these disclaimers, will not have any effect in the eyes of International LAW! or National Law, it is a willful blackmail effort, to pass the butt! and wrong to hold children to ransom!

I wonder if all schools do this, my daughter earlier went to a montessorie and now goes to an indian school and in both these places I was asked to sign the disclaimer while taking her for an outing....

Well I guess if NTUC are allowed to do it, then they will all try to do it, that is why I believe it should be stopped. these teachers, should be covered by insurance to look after children in and outside of the schools. This is a serious case, that needs bringing to someone attention here. It gives the teachers, the right to neglect the children and not suffer the consequences.

The government however does hold other businesses liable for accidents for example on building sites. It does need sorting out!

I believe all childcare centers operating in Singapore have insured all their children and teachers. (within the childcare premises)

If there is an outing etc, and if parents doesnt want to risk their child's safety by signing the disclaimer, then just dont let your child go, isnt it simple?

No teachers/parents/anyone want an accident or anything bad to happen to any of the children, but if something really happen, fingers will start pointing. Its not easy taking control of many children (not sure of the teacher to child ratio though).

Yeah basically, all nurseries, montessories, and other private schools practise this.Lookeo is right,if you are not comfortable, just dont send your child.
On the other hand ,we have to learn to trust the teachers.Basically we all grow up by falling down, getting injured and moving on with life.To how much extent can we get too protective of our kids..when they are not with us ?

I'm quite surprised at your weak response along with lookeo, you would rather let your child stay at home, than fight for for your childs happiness, don't you feel that your child will be upset, when all the friends are going, and she/he cannot. jesus!

This must be Singapore I'm in, the parents probably don't give a damn, because the most are not looking after their kids, the servant is. could this be the case? I just do not understand why parents cannot stick up for their children in a government childcare unit, when you are paying for it.

The point is, the school and government are playing with your childrens emotions, or maybe you cannot see that either! the point needs raising with all NTUC child care units, and the government needs to get its act together, teachers have to be insured, if any of the teachers get injured, what happens, maybe they are insured, when out of childcare on a walk? So why not the kids? they have taken our money every month! and its unfair, that some kids go and others cannot. You must all stick togeather, where is your backbone! anyway i'm looking into it now! I'd rather take her out of childcare first, and lodge an official complaint.
