Some advice please

Post by nick.wakefield » Tue, 19 Sep 2006 4:49 pm

greetings

i am a 41 year old male who is shifting to singapore with his wife and three year old daughter. can anyone provide me with some advice on what areas I should be looking to shift to. we are looking for a 3 bedroom house that is close to transport. I amgoing to be working in the 5 towers in the CBD and work will be compensating my accomodation. the ammount we are looking at is between 2000 - 3000 per month. we appreciate that a back yeard is out but want something with a gym and pool , somewhere safe and able to maybe meet up with other kiwi ex pats and have a beer and a chat. a playground or a park nearby for our daughter would be a bonus. can someone also advise us on rental payments, is it true you pay a year inadvance or give a years notice as some web sites have indicated.

any help would be great :D

cheers Nick

Hi there,

A year in advance?!! of course not!

I think wat u paying is:
If the rental period is for 1yrs, 1month rental deposit, and then 1 month advance rental fees.
Total u need to fork out is 2mths rental amount.

If the rental period is for 2yrs, then it be 2month rental deposit, and then 1 month advance rental fees.
Total u need to fork out is 3mths rental amount.

Lots of condos with facilities around (swimming pool, gym, playground, BBQ area), all within your budget of $3,000 if i am not wrong.

Well, you can get 3 BR unit in a full facility condo with rental fee between S$ 2000 - 3000. It won't be too near to the city area, but it will be nearby the train station. Most condo nowadays will have playground and even kids swimming pool.

Here, the normal practise is, when you confirm you want to rent one unit for a year, then you will have to place 1 month fee as deposit, and 1 month payment in advanced. If you go by 2 year contract, then you place 2 months deposit, and 1 month payment in advanced.

Really cool place I found on a trip this weekend was the Heritage View for around that price. Facilities were great. A bit of a ways to the MRT but not that bad. It's just a bit outside the citiy so it isn't the most convenient but very nice setup.
