X - box games Poll

Post by ksl » Sun, 17 Sep 2006 10:36 pm

Just purchased a game for my daughter, from Junction 8 Bishan, It doesn't work, and now i have had a good look at the hologram and compared it to my others, i'm quite sure it's a copy!

When i insert the disc it comes up with wrong region, at 35$ a hit, I'm a little cheesed off, that i have to make the trip again to exchange it.

I was wondering if this is normal practise in Singapore, I have been informed I can chip my machine and it will play all the copies, but there again, I am paying 35$ for something i believe to be original.

If i wanted a copy, there are lots at 10$, just wondering what others think of this little stitch up, I guess most machines in Singapore are probably chipped, and therefor would play a copy with no problem, but you would be cheesed off paying 35$ for one.

But i'm a little ---- off, that i expected an original X - box game, when i pay top $, its an old game, the new games are 69$

My question is how many would report this shop to microsoft?

Well, you would need to report it to MS... and also the police.

well I didn't report the shop, I decided to see what he had to say for himself, after i checked my x -box documentation. It turned out that he had sold me a USA disc, when i have a Singaporean X-box, and was under the impression, that everyone gets them rechipped.

I politely told him, for the sake of all customers, to at least have a sign up, to inform people of the difference, between the Singapore X- box games and the USA versions. I mean I'm living in Singapore and i expect a Singapore version, unless I state, that I require a different region.

Anyway, he wouldn't reimburse my travel costs, so i demanded my money back! because he was also high priced compared to other shops. You live and learn!

Although my 5 year old daughter wasn't very happy, that she didn't get her game, just yet! I guess I will be the one, that gets scolded, when she gets home today!

Xbox's sold in Singapore are NTSC -J ( Japan) the other 2 flavours are NTSC and PAL.

It's alwasys annoyed me why there has to be different systems when 99% of Tv's nowdays are multisytem.
In fact there are some games not even available in NTSC-J ( Rugby 2005 for instance)
For the record it is not illegal to chip your x box to enable it to play games from other regions.
I have chipped mine to enable media player ..legal and a free download, so i can play DVD's wmf's, avi's etc. It also allows me to run Linux on my xbox ...All perfectly legal. I can also play any game from any region. Still legal.
What illegal is the copying of xbox games and using these copies ( unless you own the original)

There's a guy in Singapore who can even softmod your xbox ( no chip needed) to enable the same functions. Think he's on ebay.sg or used to be.

I object to paying 60 + dollars for a game and yet i still do. What i object more to is people ripping off other peoples work and selling it for a quick profit.

I'm not familiar with the Xbox 360 ( yet :D ) but it wouldn't surprise me if the lovely people at MS make it region dependant too. So beware.
