CHANGE OF DVD REGION??

Post by sunnydown » Sat, 16 Sep 2006 6:11 pm

Can anyone help here. Just moved here from UK. My Sony DVD home theatre will only play region 2 DVD's looking for someone where I can have it 'rechipped' to multi region if at all possible.

Is it not just cheaper and easier to buy a new multi-region dvd player?
Cheers

Of course we considered that but sadly it's not that straight forward for us as that would mean having to buy a completley new home movie system aswell. If this is what we will have to do then we'll do it.

just connect a multi region dvd player to your existing dvd player in the home theatre system. The existing dvd player should have two AV channels, so you can connect a 2nd dvd player off that. That is what I did when I had the same problem.

don't waste money buying another player.

Most players can be unlocked to be region free simply by punching in the unlock code. Google your model of the player along with the words "unlock codes" or "multi region" .. eventually you will find a website that has the remote control sequence, or the button sequence on your unit to unlock it.

Unfortunately most Sony's can't be made multi region with regular handset hacks.

I guess that is what happens when a dvd player manufacturer also has intrests in film studios :(

If you can get a service remote it is possible for the majority of Sony machines though. Places in the UK rent them out but I do not know about in Singapore.

What's the model number is the player?

you can get chipped remotes that'll do the job.
