12 Year Old - Which school?

Post by robin37 » Fri, 15 Sep 2006 7:29 pm

Hello everyone,

We are relocating into Singapore at the end of the year we have a 12 year old boy. I have found out the waiting lists are huge at almost all the best schools, I don't want any religious influence on him just straight up and down good all round schooling, does that narrow it down.

Have any native UK folks tried any of the European/Candian schools?

from the boards and my own research it seems that UWC and Tanglin are the top two or most desired, am I right? It sounds like ICS is religious and Chatsworth a bit off the pace? I am just making assumptions here and stand to be corrected and helped.

Are there any agencies in town which help you get in to a school/advise you or do you have to do it all yourself?

Thanks for any info/feedback
Robin

Well, you may like to do it yourself or seek an agency to do it on your behalf. Please be reminded that you may have to pay the agency for a fee.

Hi robin,

You could look at the schools' websites to get an idea of the curriculum. My boys are in the American school, so sorry I can't help you with the UK/Canadian ones. But we did scout around (visited the schools personally) before deciding on the American school. If you could swing it, try to get a preliminary trip out to Singapore to visit the various schools.

We did visit Chatsworth - older campus but had a nice homey "feel" to it. I knew one lady who had her daughter in the school & was very happy with it. They have since moved to London.

We also visited the Canadian school. But the campus was a bit run down at the time. They may have moved to their new campus by now. No personal or anecdotal experiences to share here though.

Good luck!
