Chatsworth

We are moving to SG from Japan at the end of this year. We are considering Chatsworth. Our 8 y/o doesn't speak any English so he will have to go through ESL. Can anyone provide some info on Chatsworth? I hear it is pretty good but I'd lilke to know more. Thanks!

Hey there,

You may want to consider the Canadian School, UWC or Tanglin. Chatsworth has a reputatin for happy children but low-achievement.

Dover Court has good ESL classes. Worth considering

Thank you all for the info. I will check out the other schools but at the moment, we need to consider our son's mental well being. He has never lived abroad and is not really looking forward to this move so maybe having fun while learning is the best thing for him now. Once he gets used to it, then we can consider moving him to a new school that will put a but more educational pressure on him. I know changing schools is not the easiest but it is something we need to consider??

OFS has ESOL classes for every grade level. ESOL 1 for those who know no English, ESOL 2 for those who know some, and then the children are mainstreamed into the regular classroom.

I can't comment on the other schools, so I won't, but the comment on Chatsworth for low achievers is wrong. My neighbours had three girls who went there until they moved to India and they were not low achievers. So don't believe everything you read here. Investigate them all, visit them and then decide.

I could not reply to your message, so have to place a post. Could you perhaps email me at [email protected] so I can contact you directly.
My son only recently started at Chatsworth in K2, so I have to ask about your son not speaking English now, perhaps others in this forum would know more on that, but I can check for you if you like.
I believe there are a lot of after school activities, sub contracted to specialists in that particular sport etc.
I presume the academic pressure at K2 level is very small, so no idea how it will compare for your sons age.
I have only heard GOOD things about Chatsworth, like the smaller school and more personal, friendly environment.
