Hi Sue1303 ....

Firstly, what's a 'rekki'?? short-trip?

Well good luck with your move then - btw, really appreciated your comment ...'pretty much happy anywhere' .... seems to be quite an unusual trait these days ... :)

Cheers

My kids are at Tanglin infant school and I am really impressed with the education they have had so far. We came from an inner London state school and I had to find a pre-school for my daughter for 7 months as Tanglin didn't have a place. I loved the pre-school and nearly left my son there instead of moving him to the huge environment of Tanglin. I did move him, in the end, and am very pleased I did. The school is huge but the kids really don't seem to notice. There are more kids in my daughter's year than in her entire school in London.

Tanglin likes to maintain 70% of the places for British nationals. However, in many cases, only one parent is British so there is actually a good range of nationalities. In my daughter's class there is one French child, two Aussies, one American/Irish, one Malaysian, one Ugandan, two Indians, and at least one with one Singaporean parent.

I'm glad I went with Tanglin especially as my children will be returning to the English schooling system in 2 or 3 years time, so they will be able to slip back in easily.

I haven't looked at UWC myself, but many of my friends have kids there and all seemed pleased with their choice also.

Good luck with your decision.

Hi 'Bush Girl' -

Many thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts - they were really helpful.

Have thought through this a lot and will be sending in the wait-listing application to tanglin shortly ... and will start keeping my fingers crossed from then on :)

Thanks.

Hello People,

My family and I are in the process of moving here (already here but haven't found apartment or school yet) and I ran into an English Lit Professor at the university here who said that the top school academically is UWC.

We will be checking it and some others out over the next couple of weeks so will keep you posted.
