I don't know

Post by jadeyj » Sun, 03 Sep 2006 7:37 am

My husband has just told me that he has been offered a job in Singapore and wants my answer. We live in Sydney, by the beach in a nice hose with garden and have a 3 and 1 year old. We have lived abroad in the Gulf and HK for many years but that was when we were childless.

Does anybody know of a decent French ( or International )preschool and based on that were is a good area to live closeby which would have a small garden. I am so confused :???:
thanks

G'day mate! Sorry, couldn't help myself :)

Nothing is very far in Singapore. There are plenty of good schools to chose from. Eton House, Chatsworth, Rosemount are the smaller schools that spring to my mind and then there are larger schools which would cater to your children's ages.

How good of a pkg. will you have? Will they be picking up the bill for education, housing, etc? Will you be getting a car? These are all things to think about. Housing prices are on the increase at the moment, so if you have some help, great!

There will not be a beach similiar to what you have grown accustom to in Sydney, I miss my beach walks, too. (Sunshine Coast) There are some condos which do have a patch of green garden, but those are difficult to find. Most condos are family friendly and the children will be safe.

Google for schools, housing, and find out where your husband will be working from. Look at a map of Singapore and get a feel of it. My children are teenagers, but it still was a hard decision. Good luck and keep asking those questions! :)

Singapore is quite a nice place to live with young kids and the schools are good too. As Matney said, it won't be the same as Sydney, but different again to HK and the Gulf. I find it a good place for young kids.

Do a lot of searching and check out International Schools etc on the internet, this site even has some links to some of them, but even if you google or whatever for childcare/int. schools in singapore you will find a lot.

There are quite a few condos with nice gardens and pools etc for them to enjoy, and even some with small terraces. A lot will depend on how much you will pay for rent etc (not sure if you have to pay or company will pay) but there are things around...check out the real estate part of this site to get a feel for it.

Good luck, it is never an easy decision to make.
