Bringing electronic goods from India

Post by ajena » Wed, 30 Aug 2006 4:25 pm

Hi. My husband and I are relocating from New Delhi to Singapore in November this year. I need to know if electronic goods bought in India like TV, home theatre, microwave and refrigerator (all Samsung) will work in Singapore?
Thanks!

Your question is lacking the main energy source of New Delhi, 110 volt power supply or 240v Singapore works on the 240V system, the same as UK, plugs are also the same as UK, 3 pin. not two pin, however they are easy to change. The TV system is PAL in SIngapore, so if you have the same in New Delhi, there is no reason why it shouldn't work.

However you must also consider the cost of shipping, if you are to pay yourself, as electronic goods are quite cheap in SIngapore. and normally it would not pay to ship them, if they are several years old, there is also the transportation risks involved and the insurance liability

Thanks for the info. The products mention 100V-260V -50/60Hz on them. The plugs here too are three pin and the television is PAL. Please advise.

I looked up India voltages... no problem... the 240 volt variety. But if I read right. your three prong plugs are of the old English variety... round prongs... you will need to buy adapters to fit the 'new' English plugs as used in Singapore.

As for TV, you should check but I think it is only the US that uses NTSC... everybody else uses PAL... do a google search on TV India and see what you get.
