Good and bad eye creams on the market.

Post by roxygerrr » Wed, 23 Aug 2006 5:36 pm

Hi girls, i have some queries about eye cream. lately, i bought a new eye cream, "Kiehl's Cryste Marine". The SA told me its the second best selling pdt (btw, the best selling pdt is their lipbalm) and it's said to be effective for dark eye rings.

However, to my horror, after applying it for a day (day and night), i realized both of my eyes swell up. Its not just the eye bags below the eyes that swells, but the eyelids were swelling as well. It isn't itchy but it looks horrible, you may have experienced major swelling of your eyes when you wake up in e morning after a terrible cry at night, and it's exactly the kind.

I don't know if it is because of the eye cream, that causes allergy. Or is it that i applied too much and my skin is oversensitive to take it. Anyone else have encounter such problems? I'm afraid to try it again but feel wasted to throw away as i used it only once and it cost me $65!! Please someone give me suggestions?

Please go back to the counter and tell them you have an allergic reaction to the product and find out if you can change for something else? or a cash refund.

I have very sensitive skin so i always ask them what happens if im allergic to it and whats the procedure.....it happens to be very often (not the eye tho) but on my face when it reacts to the new products i get.

Thanks, elska. I've called up the shop and asked for a cash refund, apparently, they allowed so i'm going down tomorrow.

The person asked if i wanna try the eye cream again before i refund it as he says it might be other causes for the swell... but i doubt it... anyway, are you using any good eye creams? ones that combat dark eye rings! i've heard some good ones on the market, like TNS Better eyes, Cosme Decorte cleaness eye serum, dermalogica, bioxil circle vanish, Clinique or even Biotherm.

Do you or anyone else used any before? any recommendations?

ThankS!!! :D

Cosme Decorte is one of the most expensive eye pdts on the market... also not good? what do you mean by your lids started to flake? You mean peel? How long did you use it before you see this happening? Anyway, what you mean by "decent", does it reduce your dark eye circles? hehee

I think for sensitive skin especially, one shd use the brand, "SIMPLE". This brand is also recommended by doctors.

Currently i'm using the eye cream too. MY eczema has not been working up for quite long ever since.

Heya Elska,

Yep, i've eczema. Mine will break out esp when i perspire too much. Or when i've not enough sleep and my eye whd start to itch and my eczema whd start wrking. Other place are like my neck when i wear those fake jewelries *hehe.. expensive skin* so have not been wearing anything for very long.

If you hv eczema, try to keep urself very clean. Especially ur face if it aways acts on ur face. If you whd like to use products for sensitive skin, use Simple as it's also doctors' recommendation for sensitive skin. Else if you whd like to use other more popular brands (Maybeline, Loreal ..... etc.), make sure products are water-based so that it will not clog ur pores.

And also if your skin is dry, slap your skin with plenty of moisturiser. Bring out a small bottle each time you go out. Everytime you go to the washroom to touch up, moisturiser first before the cosmetics. If your hands are dry, try to apply regularly.

I have been using Andrea's EyeQ's products which are far more affordable. I used to have really dark eye circles (hereditary) but a cosmetic surgeon I saw yesterday said that my dark eye circles are not really that bad. So Andrea's must be doing something right!

Hiya Pandagirl,

What's the product that you are using all about? How affordable are you speaking? Anyway, you are trying to remove the dark circles through cosmetic surgery? Which cosmetic surgeon did you visit? A recommendation by someone? Does that place has a webpage that i could visit first?

I'm truly sorry. I also dunnoe why my above are questions. Hehe....
Looking forward to your prompt reply
