20th century modern chinese paintings

Post by Close Encounter » Sat, 19 Aug 2006 8:14 pm

Is there anyone else who is interested in Chinese paintings? I have a very small collection of eight paintings – early works 1950s / 1960s of local SEA listed artists and I would like to add a couple of Chinese paintings in my collection.

My interest is the 20th Century modern Chinese paintings. Any advice for a novice non Chinese collector?
I know there is a lot of speculation in the Chinese art market right now and probably lots of fakes of masterpieces coming out of the woodwork so I need to tread carefully...

At the risk of stating the obvious: investing in art as a means to profit is exceedingly difficult. Buy works you like and, even if they're "worthless" cashwise, they'll still look nice in your living room.
