Pre / Post birth Care

Post by Patrick777 » Tue, 15 Aug 2006 7:14 pm

Ok so I'm getting a better feel for what it's going to cost to have a child but can anyone explain what happens before and after birth?

Does anything exist as in the Uk to check the baby is doing OK before and after so to speak or do you have to negotiate that with the hospital and do it all in one place?

Any advice would be great.

Cheers

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

The process is fairly simple here and the medical facilities are good also. As for cost, alot depends on where (which hospital) your partner will have your baby and what actually takes place on the big day.

It is fairly simple to source out popular obstetricians here in Singapore. Just come onto this list and the ladies here will no doubt give you a huge list to choose from. Then you make an appointment and voila! You will go to your chosen OB at his offices every 4 weeks or so (even sooner as she progresses through her pregnancy) and you can request to have ultrasound scans as well.

Always a good idea to think about what type of experience your partner wishes to have as there are OB's here who will be happy to support women who want a complete drug free birth and there are OB's here who will support women who want other things such as planned sections, epidurals etc.

Its a fairly simple process but can be alot more daunting when you are new to the place.

Good luck with the move to Singapore and hope you find what you are looking for.

Regards
