Banking - Regular Money Transfers

Post by wrayr » Thu, 10 Aug 2006 8:31 am

Hi everyone

We're moving from Oz at the end of the month. I need to find the best bank for doing regular transfers back here from Singapore.

Does anyone know if it's possible to set up an account before we get to the country?

I was planning on using PayPal to do this.

Set up an account at home and one in Singapore (two different email addresses).

The transfers are free over a certain amount of cash.

It is possible to set up an account without living here but you will need to be here to do it and you will need a letter of introduction from a current account holder at the bank.

I don't know which is the 'best' bank... most have similar fees and very similar exchange rates, the differences don't matter much unless you have large amounts.

The best exchange rates are at www.xe.com. You need to set up EFT and sending and receiving bank accounts, then set up details at xe.com
