Double Buggies and buses and MRT

Post by Patrick777 » Thu, 27 Jul 2006 5:30 pm

We are touch wood coming over to Singapore shortly dep on EP!

Could you get a double buggie side by side version on either the MRT or Bus? I'm thinking if not then maybe go for a behind each other type.

Cheers

Patrick

Trains, yes. But not during busy rush hour. Buses, no. I don't think the aisle is wide enough & sometimes the doorway is divided with a bar thus only making it one-person wide. Most have the older child walking and baby in pram. It has been awhile for me, but I'm sure a more recent Mom/Dad will answer that question.

When is your arrival date?

Double Buggy

Post by Patrick777 » Thu, 27 Jul 2006 10:21 pm

Cheers for that, My oldest is 2 &1/2 and the wife thinks he'd be legging it all over hence wanting a double buggy! I think the front and back thing should be fine!

My current arrival date is the 9th of October to start work, I'm hoping to get over once before then but we'll see! 8)

It's all dependant on me getting my permit! 8)

I came here with a two year old and a nine month old baby - and we have no car. Your wife will not be able to get many places with a side-by-side double buggy. even if she managed to get in the train, there are a lot of stations with no lift access and it would be impossible to get a double buggy (either way - front or side) down the escalator.

We got a buggy board, (sometimes called a skateboard) which clipped onto the back of the back of the buggy. This saved my sanity as it made getting out with our kids so much easier. That way, I could hold my older child's hand while we got on buses and still only had to drag one buggy on the bus/train. They clip off so they're easy to get in and out of taxis etc too.

It's too hot for a two year old to be walking around and it's easier if you can let him/her stand in front of you. You need to get a standing one - not a sitting one, which is too bulky and are not made for easy detachment.

If you don't have something you can buy where you are now, you can order them online. You can't get them here in SG - I was literally stopped in the street on numerous occasions by people asking me where I got it.

Buggy Boards

Post by Patrick777 » Wed, 02 Aug 2006 12:00 am

I like the look of the buggy board now you've told me they are hard to get hold of I'll bring one with me ! I think were are going to opt for a Phil and ted buggy front and back type thing! The things to look forward to! I'll probably be retuning to the UK fairly often so I should be able to bring things back if I forget them!
