Moving with a car

Post by bkilew » Thu, 20 Jul 2006 1:36 pm

We may be considering relocating to Singapore at the end of the year. Would like to hear from anyone who has imported their car. We have a 2 year old BMW M3, trying to work out if we would bring the car or sadly sell our pride & joy...

Also, if we do bring the car, what the rules are regarding down the track when we want to sell it.

Appreciate any information.

If it is right hand drive you can import it. You will pay about 150 percent of the value of the car, plus shipping and insurance, to bring it in. Then you must purchase a certificate of entitlement to operate it on the road... around $18,000 Sing right now.

Most folks look at the costs of shipping plus import duties and find it cheaper to buy here.
