train ??? singapore to JB

Post by fx8fx » Tue, 18 Jul 2006 11:52 am

Train

Like the taxi, this is also a more comfortable option than the bus and not expensive either. The railway station in Singapore is situated at Keppel Road, (Bus #100 from Beach Road) and tickets to JB only cost around S$2.00. Since the land is Malaysian-owned, you are officially "in Malaysia" when you board the train and must show passports etc. before doing so. You can take the train at around 8.20am in the morning and return is mid-afternoon - be prepared for it to be crowded, especially on weekends.
1. wonder whether this is a safe way ?

2. whether it's ok to get the ticket directly on the railway station ?

tks

One thing, if you can, buy the ticket at the JB station, rather than at Tanjong Pagar, because it's RM30 there, and it's S$30 here. That's just the way the muffin goes.

Sure is safer than buses on highways!

Are you two talking about Sing-KL or Sing-JB here? :o

Taking the train from Sing to JB sucks, because immigration takes forever. On the way back from JB, though, it's an excellent way to shortcut the perpetual Causeway traffic jams.

Sing-JB?! Might as well take the 950/170 or that Smiling Bus?!
