Hi seajlnkh,

With regards to MOM rules, I does not oppose that. The point I want to make is, to say that "philippine people can only work as maid and singer" is not only wrong, but irresponsible. The author of this thread has a degree in Commerce with 5yr wrking experience. This woman will not come in Singapore (and spend money, 1S$=P33), without being equipped with good qualifications. It only happened that although she's qualify for the job, her employer is giving her $1K salary. Of course, MOM will not give her an EP or S Pass becoz her salary is good for a work permit only. Now, why blame the lady or ransacked her credibility? Blame it on the employer which I suspect tried to "exploit" her needs for a job.

Such a statement means nothing of the sort I have known bus drivers and train drivers who were formerly; engineers, soldiers, teachers, policemen and one had been an apprentice brain surgeon. Not to mention the hospital porter, bookseller and ticket-collector all of whom had a degree.

Take care my dear appearances can be deceptive.

Which country are you from? Maybe I can help you on this as I work in an employment agency.
It is my opinion, that you are a recruiting agent for maids or singers, and quite a rude one at that! You may one day realise your approach was quite unprofessional, no matter if the facts are right or wrong. Take it as a learning experience, and impove your communication skills.

S pass appeal

Post by freshink » Wed, 25 Oct 2006 9:03 pm

Hello guys,

Just read this thread and I am quite interested to post mine. My employer applied a work permit for me. However it got denied since I am college degree holder (english major), got a $2,500 salary and I have editorial/writing skills.

Currently, they're working on my S pass appeal. It's funny and quite frustrating since I don't know the reason behind the work permit rejection.

I'm here in the Phil, and am just waiting for my S pass result. I think, MOM must've known that I have already started work on social pass. Should've not done that...tsk tsk tsk

Anyway, I'd like to know if you guys have heard of an appeal that got approved...

Thanks!~

Job in Singapore

Post by jissa » Tue, 31 Oct 2006 1:32 pm

If you can get a dependent pass( if you are married), then the employer can get you the In Principle letter from MOM that will permit you to work in Singapore. All the best.

I don't think they would deny the EP on your qualifications, it was probably denied, because Singapore locals have priority on jobs, So you have to find an alternative method of approach to get here, and there are a few.

You might to apply for Landed PR in Singapore, ask any agents on how to get it or check it on ICA website. If you can get a job then ICA will issue you PR Status in Singapore.

No, he was rejected rightly so. You cannot have a degree and get a work permit. There is only one way and that is as a domestic helper (maid). If you have a degree your WP application will always be rejected. He would have to apply for a "S" as he has indicated he is doing. An EP (Employment Pass) and a WP (Work Permit) are not the same thing. The "S" Pass is the lowest rung on the EP ladder. Having a salary of at least 2500/mo will allow an "S" Pass holder to bring in the spouse on a Dependents Pass, between 1800 (the minimum for a S Pass) and 2500 cannot get Dependent Passes.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to get a pass unless you meet the minimum requirements... For Employment Pass, I believe it has to be above 2500 and above 1800 for S-Pass.. check www.mom.gov.sg

If you are a professional and have the necessary qualifications, you should be able to find a job that pays above 1800...

ipodnano,

You really should read the whole thread instead on reading one or two posts. Look two posts above yours.

hey pple

Welcome to reality ;) miss anne.. the way she (cyndI) conveyed her msg across might be questionable.. but there is some truth to it.. This reminds me of the Article in TOday A while back... abt this phillipino lady.. who drops of her car in the auto repair shop and hails a cab. And the uncle goes " off day today ha " I literally fell off my chair in amusement .. (no offence meant) when i read the article. Think u hit the ground floor .. Wait till u see wats in the basement... I pity the indians in this country.. even u smell fresh or of nice perfume.. the normal reaction u get from some pple is still the same.. the hold their noses from a distance away..

PS: the more u struggle in quick sand the faster u sink

Cheers
Adi
