Moving company from Midwest U.S. to Singapore?

Post by 111abc » Fri, 07 Jul 2006 4:27 am

We're moving from Midwest U.S. to Singapore very soon. We have about 30-40 boxes, mainly books and other misc stuff.
Can someone recommend some good moving companies?
Your suggestion is appreciated.

I haven't lived in the midwest for 16 years, but look in the telephone book for the companies that advertise for international moves. Get quotes from them and find out who will be receiving the goods in Singapore. Any of the well known companies would be good, Allied, Collins, Kent, etc. If you're not planning to move a whole house or apartment, they may want to add your things to someone else's shipment, therefore it could take longer.
Welcome to Singapore. Where in the Midwest will you be coming from?

Hi,
we moved from Philly to Singapore and used American Baggage --- they were pretty good. You can check out their website by googling. I am not sure if they go from midwest -- but you could call and check. Their rates were reasonable ! Good luck.

the big names operating in your area will be able to ship your boxes to SG. they may not do it end to end and segments may be handed over to "partners".

Hi,
We just moved from Chicago - and we used WorldWide Movers and are very happy with their work. In Singapore Raffles Movers delivered our boxes and were equally fine.
PM if you need any details/contacts etc.
Have a safe move !

Shipping from midwest or anywhere else...

Hello friend,
I agree with the previous poster, except Worldwide is no longer in business, but here is the contact info for Rose, the woman who used to handle it with Worldwide, and also shipped us: Her e-mail is: [email protected] or call toll free (866) 916-0961. She now works for Modern Shipping, in Chicago. Send her your details and she'll give you a quote very quickly. Rose is great! ...friendly, and professional, too. ...and ships all over the world. :)
