Hi there,
Just started playing on golf courses - it would be great to meet any fellow beginners to play with. Apparently, there are some good courses on Bintan or JB worth trying...

I have played mostly in Malaysia and Philippines but never Singapore. I thought we could spend a day in Bintan/Batam. There is also JB. Some golf courses have the ferry ticket, taxi, green fees all included in a package.
I am currently practicing in Marina South's golf range. It would be great to start a group of fellow swingers...

I'm a member out at Indah Puri in Batam - great day out golfing out there and the nice thing or rather I'd say one of the best things about that course is you can make it as challenging or and easy as you want! There are quite a few holes where you have the option to "go for it" with a long drive over the water or play it safe and go around. There are really only a couple of holes that a Long Drive would help your score! Great for beginners and very friendly staff out there! Only thing with it is that no matter how you cut it, it turns out being a full day out with the ferry schedule etc...

Also, wondering when the new course at Marina (right next to Sheares Bridge) would be completed, and if it would be expensive ... ???

I've got some infor on that course...not smart enough to figure out how to link to it, so I've inserted some of the write up on it...hope it helps...looks great!
An 18-hole golf course in the style of the venerable St Andrews links in Scotland. A challenging layout with enough hidden bunkers to gladden the heart of an infantryman. Scenic views of the sea, the soaring skyscrapers of the city and the proposed Integrated Resort.
You do not need to be a member to play here. And the green fee is just $40.
Yes, you read that right.
Singapore’s first 18-hole public golf course is rapidly nearing completion, and is set to make "affordable" golfing finally a reality.
The Marina Bay course will be completed by the end of this year, nestled in a setting that would have done even the most high-end private golfing club proud.
But you will not have to wait that long to enjoy a game there. Nine holes will be open to the public before July.
There is no membership scheme. The green fee for nine holes will be set within the next three months. But the 18-hole green fee has already been decided: $40 on weekdays and $80 on weekends and public holidays for Singaporeans and permanent residents.
Foreign visitors will pay double these rates.
"Our green fees are very reasonable," said Ms Ong. Compare them with the $100 to $250 fee guests have to pay for one round of 18 holes at premier membership clubs.
The Marina Bay driving range will charge six cents per ball at peak hours and four cents for each ball during the off-peak period.
If you want to play with the Big Dogs you can't pee like a Puppy!

Worry not ... my golfing skill is still at the digging-the-carpet/greens-and-embarrassing-myself stage
We have to start somewhere.

Not sure why you are posting to a forum then. You should be posting to Comfort Delgro or TransCab or any other Taxi company, not here.
