I am specifically looking for herbs/doctor's pills/concoctions to help me cure this problem.
I've been doing facials but unless I start attacking the root of the problem (which is internal), I will always have this problem.
I've taken Refine before and I'd say it works miracles by clearing up the skin, making it firmer and tighter and giving it a really good skin texture. But it's also very expensive ($130/mth).
Will appreciate a more medical approach to this problem. Dear ladies, if you've taken any oral pills, or traditional herbal concoctions which cleared your oily skin, please share!
P.S. If you're going to suggest fruit juice diets, I'm going overseas in a while and the place I go to doesn't make juicing a very convenient activity.

Hi iamdanny,
if u've got spare cash u can invest in Refine/Imedeen.
Refine did a good job on me, just that I don't have enough money to keep buying such things every month...

Check out your diet.
Reduce chillis, oily, high carbohydrate food.
Stay out from heat as much as you can. Heat will make your sebaceous [sweat] glands and sudoriferous [oil] glands more active.
Don keep blotting face with tissue or blotter cause that will signal your brain that your skin surface is dry so need to replenish. Same for face wash, clean max 3x per day. Best is morning and night only.
Invest in toner n moisturiser that can matifies, moisturise and protect yr skin from UVA n UVB
Chose lotion, gel-based or water-based products over Creme and milk based..
Scrub 2x per week and after that use clay mask to deep cleanse face 1x per week..
if it is really oily and cause lot of acne, pimples with pus, I recommend you see Skin Specialist as it may be also due to gene..

kokosharyln, thanks for ur tips.
Well what I really need is a treatment that works within. It's not about good products anymore. But a proper treatment that solves the problem from deep within the body.
I know of someone who does acupuncture and herbs...going for a consultation with her soon.
But if anyone has more ideas on herbs/medicine...that's what I'm really looking out for.
P.S. Staying out of the heat is not easy unless I decide to become a hermit.

Hi Ms Swan,
I'm also a victim of oily skin (which leads to acne breakouts from time to time), and I find that there's a few things that can improve my condition which I would like to share with you.
1) At least 2 litres of water each day
2) Enough sleep at the right time. (best to capitalise on the sleeping time between 10pm and 2 am as it's the most important)
3) Regular clearance of toxics in body.
4) DMK efa (capsules I take to improve skin elasticity and keep skin hydrated)
5) Proper skincare.
6) A very good oil control agent that would not clog pores up (This Actrol Powder I use, also from Danne Montague King, is simply amazing - cost only $60 and I can use it for more than half a year)
For quick results, you may wish to consider Diane-35. I used it some years back and it worked really well. But downside is you cannot take it for more than a few months, cos it's has contraceptive effects too.
Cheers!

keepting to a proper routine is important. my advise is don't waste money on facials. going for facials once a month is not sufficient = to waste of money.
take proper nutrition, do the 3-step routine (cleanse-tone-moisturize) twice a day, morning and night b4 bedtime, enough sleep does wonder.
ensure the product you use is suitable for your skin. i have tried many - my skin being sensitive.. i found artistry suits me fine.
hope you find something that works!

Unfortunately facials are a MUST because my skin is not only oily, it's clogged. I have a lot of milia seeds and if I don't visit a beauty therapist, I'll continue having a lot of gunk on my face.
A facial visit does wonders because the following morning I feel my skin so soft and smooth...
