Construction Project Management roles in Singapore?

Post by chochosan » Sun, 25 Jun 2006 10:41 pm

Hi,

My husband and I are based in the Middle East and we are very keen to work in Singapore. I'm a headhunter and my husband's a Project Manager within the construction industry.

I'm wondering if anyone could advise me on who the big players are within the construction industry at present. The recent casino bid - who will be handling the construction of the casino for Las Vegas Sands?

And also, what kind of remuneration can a construction PM expect (My husband has got about 5 years PM experience in UK and Middle East)? I guess we are spoilt by the tax-free living in the Middle East - we know to expect a drop in income, but by how much?

We have been looking on job sites like jobsdb and monster, but there doesn't seem to be any major construction projects happening in Singapore.

Any advice/tips would be most appreciated!!

The positions are usually posted in the newspapers.

But why not stay in the Middle East since there are many construction projects that will be coming onstream.

Just like to know why do you want to come over to singapore to work, any specific reasons..

since you are in the headhunting business, there might be more scope there than her as well!

True, the Middle East is bursting at the seams with construction projects kicking off....but really, it's not for us. Besides, I'm from Singapore and I wanna go back for a bit. My husband loved it there in Singapore as well, and we both think that life would be much more interesting than here.

Can we check the classifieds in newspapers online?

I am afraid not much is available online, you might be better off getting to read it from those sporeans based there who do get their regular dose of the local papers. There is the Singapore Business Council with several active members.

In fact they are recruiting for singaporeans and PRs in singapore to work there.

I have been there to Dubai a couple of times and looking out for business opportunities for the construction sector there. I will PM you separately on that.
