Swim Team/Training for Older Kids

Post by luv2paint » Fri, 23 Jun 2006 12:16 pm

My kids are relatively good swimmers and have trained regularly for competitive swim teams. As we are preparing to move to Singapore, we are wondering whether anyone has info on swim clubs and/or training programs in Singapore for older kids (+12)? What are the swim teams at UWC or Tanglin like? Our experience in other (outside Singapore) International Schools has been that swim teams/training are usually put on a lower priority as compared to other sports (eg football) and we have had to find other alternatives outside of school (private clubs or swimming associations) in order for the kids to train more competitively. However, it would also be important that the training the kids get are not so serious that it becomes regimented and not fun. Would like to hear other people/kids' experiences with swim teams either within their schools or via other clubs. Thanks.
