Hi
My partner is considering a job offer in sinagpore... and I really need some advice... We are 8 weeks preganant and therefore will not be covered by health insurance. Would like to have an idea of costs so can include in salary negotiations
We are also a same sex couple ? are we likely to encouter problems ?

You neglected to indicate who of the "we" was pregnant. If it was you then you will likely not be able to stay in Singapore except on a tourist visa as you would not be considered a "couple" either by law or relationship. As your's is a rather unique problem, I think you would have to take this up directly with the ICA (Immigration) regarding a Long Term Social Visit Pass (LTSVP) as I've no experience in same gender couples. Common law spouses, however, can get visa's provided same is recognized in origin country and you can product documentation/proof or relationship.2girls wrote:Hi

Hi 2girls,
Singapore private hospital bills size for delivery is not really that high compared to let say, HongKong. And a lot of expats living in countries in the region fly to Singapore for delivery. For sample bill sizes in hospital, can see this site:
Normal delivery: http://www.moh.gov.sg/corp/charges/comm ... ze.do?id=9
C-Section:
http://www.moh.gov.sg/corp/charges/comm ... ze.do?id=8
That said, Gynae charges are seperate issues. Some gynae have special packages, some don't. I know most expats in Singapore use the same gynae in Gleneagles Hospital. may be someone can suggest. My wife uses Dr Tanny Chan in GH medical centre 6/f. She is very good, but charges on the high side. All in all, check up plus delivery (assisted) costs us about S$10K. So any one else you go to is likely to charge less.
immigration issue, you'll have to take it up with ICA (immigration and check-point Authority)www.ica.gov.sg
