nightmare experience with Family Movers (Movers & Packer

Post by vhebbar » Fri, 16 Jun 2006 8:45 pm

I would like to share the terrible experience I had with FAMILY MOVERS (UTS unigroup members), whom I used to move my household goods from Singapore to back home. The goods reached over a month late during which time my pregnant wife and me were told every day that "it will reach in 3-4 days". Firstly, the goods were shipped through a port that was different from what I had requested and then there was a complete breakdown of communication between the Singapore office and their international agents.

As a result we had to live for 30 days in a house with no furniture of functional kitchen. We had to order food from outside everyday, which was not ideal given that my wife was pregnant. The worst part of it all was Family Movers blamed their local counterparts and shipping agencies (it was their door to door responsibility) and refused to pay me ANY compensation for the costs I was incurring in renting furniture and eating out everyday.

After several unanswered phone calls and e-mails, they referred to some legalistic fine print in their contract. They even pretended to have the issue investigated by some unilaterally appointed partisan investigator who took 3 months to review the facts. The net result for me and my wife was financial losses, hundreds of phonecalls, and agony for several months. Warning: Use "family movers" at your own risk!!! In my view, they are not dependable and take no responsibility for their action or inaction!!

 :-|

...and some have had a different experience. I was quite pleased with the service provided by Family Movers and would recommend them to anyone. They moved me speedily, and ahead of schedule, and everything arrived in good condition. Communications were good...both ways, throughout. :)
Treat people the same way you want them to treat you.
