Chatsworth School

Post by new member » Tue, 13 Jun 2006 12:35 pm

I have a 12yr old starting yr8 (UK) in August. She is Norwegian but has studied at a British School in Thailand. I have approached Tanglin Trust School but they have no vacancies for this year. Any feedback on Chatsworth appreciated, positive or negative. Thanks.

Also if anyone can advise which school might preferable for a Norwegian, CIS, OFS have both been recommended.

Hello,
I have an irish son brought up in america. He is 14 entering year 10. I am also facing the situation where schools are full up. Did u recieve any feedback. I would have liked my son to go to american school but as he is an Irish citizen he gets bumped down the list by all us passport holders.

i am living in orchard area and am considering chatsworth mainly due to lack of options and the advantage that he may make some friends living nearby.
Kind regards

Chatsworth is a good school and based on the British system. OFS is an IB school. I have a 13 & 15 who have attended OFS for 1 1/2 years. My daughter loves it and is doing well and my son who is not academically inclined doesn't care for the system. We have thought of changing schools but at his stage in school, doubt if it would make a difference. Both school are neat a MRT or Bus line.

International School

Hey guys,

Really try to get a feel for the schools and not just rely on availability of transport etc. Most expat kids travel - and have buses to and from home - and they will make friends with the kids in their condo wherever you live.

I have recently been impressed with GES - new, but very motivted teachers - probably the best option if you can't get your kids into the American school UWC or Tanglin.

Good luck!

Can anyone give any comments on schooling principles - I have read another thread which uses the word "brutal" in some teaching methods. My family are considering a move out to SG shortly and this is all getting v. confusing for us. :???:

Hey - a private massage for "new member" as I as yet cannot send private messages!

GESS has great teachers - I know a few of them - amd they are above and beyond my expectations of a good teacher. It doesn't have the history of the other schools, but your child will be well-looked after. Honestly - as a teacher in SG - I hear a lot of things about other schools - and this one, so far, smells of roses.

Good luck!

Have heard good things about GESS also. A few Chatsworth teachers have gone there to teach.

Good luck with your search.
