Anywhere from $2000 and above. Tanglin school, not really. Eton House, yes.
Not sure exactly what area of East Coast you are referring to. More information needed.

I'm told the Easst coast is nice and only 30-40 minutes from down town? I've got a 2 year old and I'm expecting another in Dec. I don't mind travelling to work etc just looking for somewhere nice near a brit school for the 2 year old etc! Struggling to get a compensation package from my company at the moment I'm thinking I need around 135k sing $ but I don't know if that's stacks in local rates etc?

I live on the East Coast and by bus I plan on 45 minutes to Orchard MRT area. I can take the bus then train and time wise it's much the same. If you plan on a car, it will be a shorter time (about 25-30 minutes), but you'll have other costs. There are several families who send their children to Eton House or Chatworth East (both British) and live on the East Coast. I think it is much quieter out East, nice shops, East Coast Park nearby, Parkway Parade.
Do you have a particular area in mind? I live at Kew Green where most places are 4BR terraces in a condo setting, 3 pools, no tennis, but a small gym. Lots of younger children, so very family friendly. Good luck and welcome to Singapore! :)

Matney,

Many thanks for your help, out of interest what do you pay for your 4 bed terrace? If you don't mind telling me I've got a 2 year old boy and another due in dec so if it wasn't to expensive a 4 bed could come in handy! Regarding the welcome, I'm not so sure. I read such variing pay levels I haven't a clue what the bank are going to come back and offer me we'll have to see! Hopefully joing you guy's soom my wife is Thai so Singapore would be great if we can afford to live etc!

Well, we hit it 'lucky'in that our landlord was wanting to get someone in his place that had been left a disaster, so we pay $2000 a month. He didn't want to clean it up or paint it, so we did for the cheaper rent. Most places are closer to $3000-$3500 and upwards. There are several places available here and know of several families moving home or to their next posting. There are several nice condos out East, so look around. No idea what the market is doing at the moment either.

Glad I was a little bit of help. Any other questions, just PM, as this thread seems to be ours alone! :)
