Hi, i'd have to say that this is one of the easier questions to answer ... "Yes"
If you plug a US (110v) item into a Singapore (220-240v) outlet, there will probably be a small bang and flash which is fairly harmless but will scare the you-know-what out of you. Then (depending on the quality of the wiring/circuit breakers) most of the power in your apartment will trip (turn-off).
You can buy power convertors so that you can plug 110v into 240v, but they're generally not very nice looking and sometimes produce a small buzzing sound.
So that we can give you a more helpful answer, let us know know what kind of items you're thinking of (PCs, TV, Kitchen goods, Lighting, etc).
Good luck
