Joining California/24 Hour fitness and Iron Man training

Post by pacificdrift » Thu, 01 Jun 2006 1:19 am

Can anyone who has done it tell me how much it is going to cost, in terms of both start up and monthly dues. I still have a chance to sign up in California before I move to Singapore, and the guy at the store here said it was ridiculously expensive to actually sign up out in Singapore although the monthly rates were reasonable. Is he right?

Are there any other gyms that anyone would recommend?

Also, where are some good spots to go running and biking in the city, and can you swim in the ocean, or is it too dangerous, polluted, inaccessable, etc?

Thanks in advance

Tony

you can try planet fitness or fitness first. i personally prefer planet fitness for its locations and few crowds during the weekdays.

Not sure if u want to swim in the sea here but it seems quite murky and dirty. Not many people do it for long distances.

Cali's joining fees are a tad high...

If I remember correctly they run into $100+

So if that amount's fine with you, then you can sign up here...

Planet Fitness seems to be the most reasonable, they have monthly membership without all the silly signup fee hassle. Not much in the way of frills either (all the DVD rentals and juice bars and such rot), but their gyms -- or at least the one in Raffles Place that I used to go to -- are pretty good.

Of course, if you want really cheap, find the nearest ClubFITT at the govn't sports complexes. S$2.50 per visit, period.
