Ante Natal Classes

Post by LoveBug » Mon, 29 May 2006 10:51 am

Hey new mums & mums to be & dads too,

Trying to choose between 3 ante natal classes held at:

1. Mount Elizabeth Hospital
2. Mother & Child at Tanglin Shopping Mall
3. Parent Link

I would love to get some feedback, thoughts, opinions on these and any other I have not listed.

Thank you in advance for your time :D

I am currently taking the antenatal class at the Mother & Child Centre and have been pleased with it so far. The instructors are UK/Australian-trained midwives and the materials and discussions have been very useful for first time parents-to-be like us. It's a great way to meet other expecting couples too.

Plus, you can take pre-natal yoga classes at the centre and there's the New Mums Cafe. We also found our Doula there. It's a good resource altogether.

I don't know about the other classes you mentioned, but they're probably good too.

Good luck and congrats on the baby!

I wouldn't recommend the classes at Mt. E. They are not bad but they are the absolute BARE MINUMUM. I have friends who are doing the mother & child classes and they are more informative and interactive. Although I didn't take the M & C, i would advise to consider these over the Mt. E classes - that is if the class times and cost suit you. I think they are probably more thorough.
Good Luck

Antenatal Classes

There is another option - HypnoBirthing is now being offered in Singapore. This is a technique to relax during labour and birthing, about learning to trust your body and allow it to do what it was made to do. Birthing need not be something to dread, learn how to enjoy your pregnancy, labour and birth. www.singaporedoula.com
Birthing, if you don't know your options, you don't have any
