Moving to Singapore/education/apartments

Post by pepper1 » Wed, 24 May 2006 4:37 pm

We are planning on moving to Singapore within the next few months. Could anyone advise us on the following questions?
- We have a 13 year old daughter and an 8 year old son, currently being schooled in New Zealand. We have identified Tanglin Trust School and the Australian School as being our 2 schools of choice - which one do people see as the better and what areas surrounding those schools are the best for expats to live in? Can anyone suggest any great apartment blocks that we could investigate further? Do most expats have a car built in with their package or is the MRT/buses adequate for getting around?
Thanks for taking the time to reply. :)

Both Tanglin Trust (British) and Australian School have excellent reputations. Our children attend ICS, the only International School with a Christian foundation. Just curious, do you live in Auckland? We have an opportunity to move there... any suggestions on schools for a 10 and 12 year old? Thanks!

Hi Sailing mum

Depending where you live in Auckland

Kristin School is a very good private school as are St Cuthberts, Auckland Diocesan for Girls and St Kentigerns :)

Thanks for your reply. I was in Singapore last week so have only just got to my computer again. Yes we currently live in Auckland. You really need to look carefully at the school zone you will be living in when you come to Auckland. If you decide on a private school they don't have zones, however if you are looking at a state school they have very strict zoning policies. Some excellent state schools are Epsom Girls Grammar [quite a large school though], Auckland Boys Grammar, Glendowie College [nice and small!], Remuera Intermediate [only for 11 and 12 year olds], McCleans College. You need to live in the school zone for all these schools.
