Relocating to Singapore-Advise needed on rent&cost of li

Post by jymmichimpo » Wed, 24 May 2006 4:03 am

Hi
I've been offered a permanent job for SD75000 per year.I've calculated it should be about SD6000 pm.

Questions:

1)The office is located at 1 Raffles Link.I'll travel by tube.I don't mind travelling but would like to live in a lively area with bars, restaurants etc.I'm single and like going out.Which area would you suggest?Holland Village?

2)I've budgeted between SD2000-SD2.500 pm top to rent a flat in condo with usual facilicities (jim, swimming pool etc).Exclude to live in HDB flats. Is it realistic?

3)I live in London and go out most fridays and saturdays (clubs and bars). Is SD 1,000 pm a reasonable estimate in Singapore?

thanks

1) No tubes in Holland Village yet. If you want to live in a party area and near work, you'll want to check out condos in close proximity to the Quays -- Robertson Quay, River Valley, etc. Be warned that these areas aren't cheap.

2) Realistic, yes, but the best places will be out of reach.

3) Yes. Figure on S$10 for a drink and do the math. Most bars don't have cover charges, and those at nightclubs and such usually include "free" drinks so the price works out to be roughly the same.

If u are not looking at savings , then i think u can comfortably live and spend ......housing i guess would be more in the orchard/holland village area depending on the type of flat u want....
