sms to and from australia

Post by alcoulthard » Mon, 22 May 2006 10:05 pm

Does anyone know how/why certain sms messages seem to fail to get to and from friends of mine in Australia?

It's a starhub mobile and I suspect that maybe its only optus mobiles in Oz that it can get through to and telstra doesn't work, but I'm guessing.

Anyone have a clue?

If it is a network thing is there any way around it ?

Coincidence! I guess.

We were discussing this today in the office during lunch and the only conclusion was that due to lack of account info or return route path either at the AU or SG end, it may cause the message to be terminated as it cant find a proper number. THis is pure speculation.

Are they just standard SMS? No pics etc?

I only ask because I have no problems at all and I regularly send SMS to both Optus and Telstra numbers from my Starhub mobile. Only ever had a handful of these that didn't get through (usual cause was only half the msg got through, but they were very long so not surprised, these however worked on second try).

In fact I think I have more trouble with not getting through/time lag to some Singtel numbers here!

I guess I'll keep trying. Maybe if I try and get someone in oz to type in the number rather than reply to a message........I think speculation is the right word !

I can't get through to one of my friends in Sydney. Not sure but think he's Optus.
