Why not consider the Australian School and OFS as well?

Are you feeling alright Mary? I would agree with the OP choices. Is there a school here for the gifted? If this child is currently in grade 5 but doing grade 7-8 class work, it would seem the child may be gifted and therefore may become bored at OFS or Australian school.

Matney & OXYS:

I think that a school has more to offer a child besides academic rigor. If this particular child is going back to Australia in 2 years -- then switching to an American curriculum, then back again will be tough. I think it makes sense to at least go look at as mnay schools as possible. He/she may find the atmosphere at one much more conducive to learning. Why rule anything out?

thank you for your guidance regarding schools, my son is not gifted it is just that the school he attends has an accelerated learning programme.

I believe waiting lists a quite long for schools some more so than others with UWC being one of the hardest to get in to. Is this true?

Yes, oxys -- it's true, some schools have waiting lists, but not at every grade level. (It's not like, say Hong Kong or Shanghai in that regard).

You'll have to weigh out the convenience of having them both in the same school, even though it would not be your first choice academically and then factor in how long you'll be in Singapore. Hard decisions I know. Check out their websites, then go see them all in person and speak to the admissions officers. That should help you to narrow it down. Good luck,

MHB
