UK Schools in Singapore

Post by Saturn99 » Thu, 18 May 2006 6:04 pm

Hi, my family and i are moving to Singapore in August and we are looking for schools that use the UK education system. So far we have found Chatsworth, Dover Court and Tanglin, does anyone know of any others or any opinions on the ones mentioned ?
Also any info on the best areas to live in for these schools would be appreciated - we are considering Dover/Buona Vista or Newton/Novena areas but we won't know untill we have been out for a look around
Many thanks :?

I think Tanglin is the only real UK style school. A lot of the others are International Baccalaureate schools (pretty sure Chatsworth is IB, not sure about Dover though). However, they are all good schools and the IB programme seems to be becoming more popular now.

We are from the Uk and my children go to an IB school. I don't think they'll have any problems if we have to go back home. However, if the company pays, you may as well send them to Tanglin - it is supposed to be a very good school.

Thanks Loops, i'll look into the IB system - the problem with Tanglin is availability.

I think you'll want to consider Overseas Family School and United World College as well. Not British per se, but both fine schools -- international student body, both on the IB system I believe. It's hard to advise you on where to live until school is sorted. Good luck.

United World College Southeast Asia is at Dover Road and it is near Singapore Polytechnic, Anglo-Chinese School and Dover ITE.

The students are from India, US, UK, Chine etc. I think it is a good school. Students have to wear uniform. :D
