Relocating to Singapore

Post by cjeffery » Wed, 17 May 2006 6:25 pm

Hi,

My partner has a new job in Singapore (in the China Town area just by Amoy Rd)... we'll be moving lock stock in October.

Any advice gratefully received on.

Areas to live/prices/condos vs house
Pets. I have a dog and two cats who I will be distraught to leave. In reality can they come with me.
cost of living...

any random general info which may make integration into Singapore society easier.

I have to say I'm so excited!!!

Hi Claire,

There is alot here to advise you on. Let me take a small part. Definitely yes to cats and dogs. They will more than likely have to go thorough quarantine though. This is not a big deal. Lots of us have done it. :)

Suggest you look at this website:

Re: where to live? can't help you without lots of specufucs like budget, size of family, etc... I suggest you use the resources on this site to get an idea, then come back to us for specifics.

Re: integration. We a r efor the most part misfit, malcontents -- not sur ewe can help you there. No really, it depends on where you a re moving from and what you like to do? The fact that you a re excited to come means you will more than likely love it here.

Good Luck!

Hi... thats fantastic news about pets.

A further question... I can see that most of the accomodation is in these huge condos? Do these accept pets, or am I better off looking for a house? Budgetwise, around 3500 SGD per month. There are just the two of us... plus all being well a dog and 2 cats...

Looking through your site which I must say is ever so comprehensive, the east coast looks slightly more appealling, but unsure if the accomodation we need is in that area.

Thankyou!!! :-)

PS. We are both english and moving from London.

Allowing pets would depend on the individual owners and also the condo Management, you can check with our Consultants who would do such checks for you before arranging any suitable viewings.

RELOCATING TO SINGAPORE

Post by cjeffery » Thu, 25 May 2006 12:41 am

Ok. I've had some questions answered by looking at other reponses. I see someone recommended Robertosn Quary and River Valley as good lively areas to live. Which district are these? Further to this... and I feel a little daft asking this, but which district should I be looking in to obtain a sea view... with an easy trip to china town to work? I think it maybe district 08? Is this asking too much?!

Other than these, can anyone recommend any other lovely places to live... budget up to 4000 per month.

thanks all!

Claire
