Studying in Australia

I would like to ask how much do i need to prepare if i am going to australia to study for two years? There will be a difference in different states right. i'm thinking of goin to brisbane, uni of queensland to be specific. So i need to know how much i need to prepare.

And also one side question if by any chance there's someone who noes abt this: how much advance standing do uni of queensland give and what ur gpa grades(for poly) need to be to get the advance standing

You might want to give a little more information about what you want to know. I got my degree in Canberra, it will differ state to state but not all that much.
