Where is the best healer for sprained ankles??

Post by BearHug » Tue, 09 May 2006 4:16 pm

Recently I sprained my left ankle for the umpteen times. Playing man's favorite sports...soccer. I have tried a few therapies and massages to correct the problem but have not been successful.

Any place to recommend??? N what kinda exercises to strengthen the ankle? :)

If it's a chronic problem you may need a podiatrist to fit you with orthodics. Let me know if you need more information.

I think you had better do some working out or go running...
It not only strengthens your leg muscles but it will also make your ankle moe flexible...I know this because of David Beckham..If you notice when he takes Free kicks his non kicking leg is bent all the way..If a first timer does that when he does not even run or job at all he will break his ankle.

He runs a lot too...Since the incident on his metartarsal..
Try it. :D

Please, whatever-your-14-yrar-old-brain-tells-you-donno, don't go spouting potentially harmful nonsense.

Reminds me of my father in-law who pushed his wife to put pressure on her knee and go bowling while she was in pain - - - Chinese logic - - - Mrs 'Cluse and I were aghast and told her not to do it, well, she listened to her husband and totally carked her knee and had to have meniscus surgery.

Go with Mary's advice.

This is very dangerous advice indeed. Consequences could be grim... Shazni, go back to school!

I have never heard of such advice from a chinese person. Are you sure he is a chinese  ?

Chinese traditional way is to go to "tie ta". I really do not know how to explain this in english, so please bear with poor (and outrageously strange) explanation.

The tie ta guy uses his hands to feel, touch and fondle the affected area. He tries to figure out which bone or ligamen is out of postion/misaligned/dislocated. He then uses his magic hands to manipulate it back to its rightful position. He will then do a little massage and rubbing. He usually makes you wear a herbal bandage or guaze cloth so the bone/ligament will stay in place.

The treatment can hurt at the point when he is adjusting your ligament.

I think tie ta is akin to chiropratic, to some extent.

Quasimodo I am not Donno..

Number 1.
Last time I sprained my ankle I did some running and working out.
Not the extreme sports.

I think it is best for you to consult a doctor if you are eager to play soccer again.

Mary Hatch this advice was from a friend who also was in the same incident...Sorry I am not a foot reflexology doctor..Mary Hatch I need some advices on legs too..What are some of the good ways to make you jump higher??I am in my school's basketball team and I need to jump higher just to block shots...Very stupid though..

Are you a Ph.D student or are you a doctor now...
Really sorry for the wrong advice...

When something is damaged you rest and recuperate. You don't add stress to something that is already stressed. Suppose it was your heart instead of your leg. Time for your biology class.
