Tour package

Friend, of your 2 choices, I'd recommend the longer tour for the extra $500. I've been to all those places, and would pay the $500 just to see Rome again...hope that's included. Better get all you can out of the trip...as you may never have the opportunity to return. All of Europe is beautiful, and each area is different. Better take your umbrella. :)

As much as Italy is a great place to visit, I'm with Eric on this one when he says you will spend a hell of alot of time sat in a coach.

Also you need to take into account the min 12hr flight to Europe and Jetlag. Your last day of your trip will be taken up with flying back to Singapore (12hrs flight + 7hrs time difference)
