Information Required

Hi Friends
I am Gaurav Goel from Noida, I have an offer in IT company for 6,000 SGD.
Me, my wife & my son (6 yrs) will be relocating to Singapore in May lastweek.

Firstly, is this a good deal? with a normal class living in Singapore?

I need some information regarding initial cost while moving to Singapore.

1. Rent of a condo with 2 Bed room Fully furnish / semi furnish near Quenstown or eastcoast (I found BIIS Indian school on net).
2. How much is the deposite or initial payment to the land-lord ?
3. The initial deposite is refundable ?
4. Do we need to talk to any agent and how much will be the commission of the agent, if any..?

Maybe other posters might be able to give you more information, but it has been our expereince that landlords won't even talk to you without an agent and that 95% of them insist on a company lease, not a lease made to an individual.

1. Not too sure about queenstown myself, but east coast area has a lot of condos. 2 bedroom should be available as of 1,200 S$ per month on average.
2. depends on the landlord, but in most cases 1 or 2 months rental.
3. It should be refundable, but do mention this specifically when you get into agreement on a condo, as there are quite a few nasty experiences of landlords or agents refusing to pay it back for different reasons.
4. depends on which agent, but in general they will ask for half a month rental comission to 1 month. Some will try 2 months, just do not agree, it is outrageous.

Agree with Mary Hatch Bailey, you will need an agent to rent.
