recommend Singapore for a 35 year old guy and his Fiancee to take a year in Singapore and neighbouring countries? I live in Montreal and my Fiancee is Sing.
In fact how long can I stay in S. wihtout having to revert back to immigration? Can I stay for a year or 2 if I show solid financials? The fact that my Fiancee is Singaporean... does that ease things or is the easing come when we are wed?
Thanks,
I am sure I have a few more questions...

You'll need to get a Long-Term Social Visit Pass ("LTVSP") to stick around that long; this comes up often, so search for that magic keyword. Vaucluse has a point though, what are you going to do here for a year if you're not working or studying?

Singapore is one of the ahrdest palces to keep a relationship togethor so if you are just satrting out and are not strong togethor I would recommend youw ait a few years.
There are to many temptations here and the local + expat culture tends to be very open for swinging, cheating, etc.
Just a thought.

Surely there are even more temptations for both if you stay apart? I mean, it's not like you can pop back home to Montreal every weekend to satisfy your urges... even the time difference is 12 hours, so it would be about the longest possible long-distance relationship you can have!

True enough - But my point still stands that coming here without a strong and lastign relationship maybe asking for it.
Long distance is always worse as you say mate.

Thank you for your funny insight into the 'swing of things' of Singapore! I liked your answers. But we have been together for 2 years.
Nonetheless I appreciate your comments and perhaps will do half and half stays in and out of Sing.
Thank you again!

Given that you've not seen the house before, would you commit to rent or buy a property only by a virtual viewing? Especially during the Covid19...
