Ok.

1: Do not post in CAPS LOCK. It's considered to be very rude.

2: For CFD computations, you'll want to get a Turion64 laptop. The AMD64 architecture is very, very well-suited to CFD (and as such, is used by the Ferrari F1 team).

I recommend Acer or HP.

My nick is "Bremen", not "Brenden".

HP is having a good deal at AAA in Sim Lim now. You can get an AMD Turion64 1.8Ghz with 512MB RAM, 15"TFT monitor, 60GB HDD and a DVD-RW for 1699.

From P.A. Mart, you can get an Acer Aspire 5035WMLi for about 1900 SGD. This has a 2Ghz AMD Turion, 512MB RAM, 80GB HDD, 14.1" CrystalBrite screen and a DVD-RW.

In ALL CASES, bargain!!! You should easily be able to convince them to up your RAM to 1GB and maybe toss in more freebies. The only exception might be the HP at AAA, since it's already discounted... But try your luck anyway!!!

Why am I recommending the Turion64 laptops instead of an Intel Dual core? Simple. In Windows 32-bit, the Turion64 chips are already faster than the Intel chips. And the AMD64 chips are 64-bit compatible, while the Intel Dual-Core chips ARE NOT. and if you seriously plan on running fluid dynamic, you'll want to install 64-bit Windows or 64-bit Linux and the 64-bit version of your fluid Dynamics software and watch it FLY.

Yup, Bremen's right.

Sim Lim Square is the place to go for all computer-realted stuff.

If you have the legs, yuo can probably spend a full day there looking (and bargaining) for what you need. :D

Are you a student here?? Seems you are gonna to simlim to purchase for the first time.

Suggestions would be take a local friend (preferably), who has some knowledge on the computers. That would expedite in getting the model you need also a best possible price.
:)

Hi,

The Core Duo is a very poor performer for CFD computations, and cannot process 64-bit instructions. As such, it will not be good for his purposes. Furthermore, other manufacturers (such as Acer) even offer 3-year warranties. While the Dell may be a nice "sit at home and chat on the internet" laptop, it is not suited for workstation apps requiring fast floating-point calculations, or 64-bit operating systems.
