Hi.. Is there anyone who knows about cathay pacific or is currently an air crew in there? Care to share about their salary scale, contract requirements and how often get layovers in singapore? Cos i couldn;t find these info in their web. Thanks a million.

Ya, agree with Plavt. Btw, Cathay doesn't have a base in Singapore anymore so there won't be any local recruitment. Just fyi.

Yap.. i know they dun have a base in Singapore. Just want to find out more so as to compare with emirates.

That does not matter as they will state on their website when they are recruiting from different countries: a few months ago they were recruiting UK residents but they have no base here either and never have had.

Hmmm.. Yap. I've wrote to them, the auto reply said that they will get back to me within 10 days. Hope they'll reply cos there are some which won't entertain your emails at all. I was afraid that would happen, that's why i made a query in this forum.

Hi VT,
Just a tip which may seem like total snobbery but from a personal point of view I would be tempted to send them a hand written letter (hard work I know). The reason being is: for one reason or another e-mails get missed, go unread or somehow disappear in the system. A great many people do not realize that e-mails are not as instantaneous as they imagine. When you send an e-mail in its electronic form you can liken the electronic 'bits' to a car on a highway which may and often does have to wait in a queue. Upon reaching the mail server which is the equivalent of the Post Office you mail has to wait to be distributed (.i.e. when a user logs on). As you will have realized by now this system is fallible and users are not always there or may well be involved in something else which could go on for weeks. The same could of course be said of 'snail mail' but at least it is less likely to vanish or be missed* through somebody reading to quickly or maybe having temporary staff who could be less than enthusiastic.
Should you decide to do this make sure, as I am sure you will, it is neat no spelling mistakes or crossings out and keep a copy if for some reason they do not get it. Once again, this may seem snobbery but if you show you can be bothered to write good English that will be an asset.

ok.. I'll keep that in mind. But I'll see if they'll reply me after ten days, then i'll take action.
Hmmm.. talking about emails and snail mail.. I do understand that there will be mail lost thru emails or humans just missed it due to the large quantity of emails they receive. But how do one make sure that by sending slow mail, employers will take their time to really go thru your entire resume? I'm sure the chances of employers scanning thru your resume will be higher for other applications as compared to airlines.. Cos the applications for airline recruitment can really flood their place!
Hmmm.. just a remark, just saying out my fustrations.

Hello,
Cabin crew of CX have layover in Singapore. They stay here only for one night where they stay at Furama Hotel, they used to stay at Marina Mandarin. For Singaporean crew, they can return to their home in Singapore.
CX pay is more than what SIA crew are paid.

Depending on your flight roster. You can exchange flight with your friends if you want to fly to Singapore often. But sometimes, they do turnaround flights in Singapore.
They normally have 1 singapore flight a month. Sometimes, 2 times. I have a relative who is a cabin crew and she have off-days where she will return to Singapore 5 times a month. Each time she return, she stay for 2 or 3 days only. If she have singapore flight, only for one night. But you have to pay for your own ticket. It is discounted. The price of the ticket will be taken away from your salary. Dont worry, CX's pay is alot(almost double of SIA and many times of budget..ehhehe)... Their crew get 1 free ticket every year.

It is public holiday in HK. So be patient. I heard this monday is still holiday.
But what i told you was the pay of a flight purser. I donno what's the pay of their normal crew. I think their pay is more than SQ because the cost of living in HK is more expensive than in Singapore.
