Sotong is Malay for 'blur', which itself again is Singlish for..... silly?

Actually sotong is Malay for Squid. But Squid are rather stupid animals in so much as these can be caught with a lure that doesn't have barbs just like monkeys with their hand in a jar of peanuts too blur (stupid - or dazed) to let go. The Blur is american slang picked up from US tv as it has been used there for a decade or two. Hence now we have "Blur like Sotong!" or "A Blond(e) Moment" Sama-sama. :mrgreen:
