Computer

Post by Tuenyi » Fri, 07 Apr 2006 10:14 am

I will be relocating to SG in May 2006. I will leave my desk top to my dad who wants to learn computer. I will buy a new one in SG.

Can anyone advise where I can buy a desk top with cheaper price. My budget is only around S$800. I don't need very excellent function, just use for checking e-mails, and job-hunting for my husband.

Any input will be much appreciated. Thank you.

There are many good deals for complete desktop systems around that price in Sim Lim. These have all the normal accessories, monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc.

Here are some specs, you'd just need to add a monitor and kb/mouse:

Sempron 64 S754 2500+ & MSI K8MM-V(AGP) ~ $195
Patriot PC3200 DDR400 1X512MB ~ $60
Hitachi 7K80 SATAII 80GB 8MB 7200RPM ~ $82
BenQ DW1640 16X DVD±RW ~ $75
Aopen 350W Power Supply ~ $50
Casing ~ $40

Approx. 500SGD

Dear Bremen,

Thank you for your quick and prompt response. May I know where is "Sim Lim"? Do you have the detailed address? I know nothing about Singapore.

Also, I even don't mind a 2nd hand PC. Can I also find it in "Sim Lim"?

Thank you.

For 2nd hand PCs, you're better off on auction sites and IT forums, but I recommend that you avoid them since a small markup will get you brand new parts with a good warranty and better performance.

Sim Lim is the famous computer and electronic center of Singapore. It's near the Bugis MRT station. Here's a map:
