Which airline's cabin crews wear long sleeve uniforms?

Post by caryn » Tue, 21 Nov 2006 12:18 am

Hi, I'm new here and have been reading through the threads in this forum for the past month. I'm very keen in the airline career but there's a scar on my forearm (which is quite visible). Having read so many posts, watched several videos and searched for pictures of cabin crews' uniform, I'm still not sure if there are any airlines where cabin crews wear long sleeve uniforms.

Emirates' pictures mostly shows their crews in long sleeve jackets and pants, but I have seen some in short sleeves too. Can someone please clarify? Because I'm thinking about getting a scar revision surgery to reduce the visibility of scars but it would cost quite a lot. ($$$)

Heard that if your scars are not visible in uniform, it wouldn't be much of a problem.. that's why I'm asking. :)

Btw, I can't seem to find any posts for Japan Airlines (JAL). Nobody talks about JAL here??!

Unless you have some hideous scar or it is very apparent (i.e. huge) that the interviewer can even see it then no it's not an issue. When you're serving - depending on the service flow/section you are in you will be wearing an light blue apron from the galley or full gear. During the interview stages, you are not required to show your arms and legs unlike candidates in Philippines and India who are required to do this during pre-selection.

Just wear some concealer to cover it up during your interview. It's a lot to do with grooming with Middle Eastern carriers as they are extremely particular on that.

Just a tip - If you pay close attention, during the final interview - One interviewer is always watching everything - even when you shake your hand, they looking for excellent grooming. It's industry standard here.

Zits - Cover them up
Scars on legs - Sally Hansen

Makeup does wonders. Serious it does.

Hi hi.. thanks for the replies toygirl and corines143.

Yes, my scar is on my forearm. It is about 15 cm long and slightly raised too. That is why I'm unable to cover it with concealer. Have been using many types of scar reducing/flattening cream but they don't really work as this is quite an old scar.

When i don't tell people about the scar, it goes unnoticed. But when i show them my arm, then they go.... "hey! i didn't realize there was a scar.. hmmm it's quite obvious now actually"... :(

Guess i will have to spend the money to go for a scar revision surgery since i'm really keen on becoming a cabin crew.

Thanks again for the replies.
