best restaurant?

Post by uk-kiwi » Sat, 25 Mar 2006 2:55 pm

hi, looking to take my other half out for his birthday and need a top draw restaurant recommendation. i'm not looking for asian as we eat it so often so would like a european food / styled or even Austalian - i was trying to get into Ember but they're closed for a private function. so far we've been to Les Amis and Oso so looking for something similar but without the Les Amis price tag or quiet formality. i've already dismissed Au Jardin. any help appreciated, thanks!

Hi,

From what I read, it seems that you are looking at only european/french food...?? 8-)
you've tried L'angeleus? It's french restaurant and value for money. You get every penny worth.

:)

how about other cuisines like Jap/korean/turkish food??

I like the Halia in the Botanical Gardens. although the menu is not massive the soft shell crab & rack of lamb is to die for

wonderful setting, nice & quiet, not too pricey, http://www.halia.com.sg/Welcome.php

How about Flute at the Fort? It's at right above the Central Fire Station on Hill St, opposite to Funan Centre. Australian cuisine, lovely atomosphere with good food n wine! :) But if you are to sit outside balcony, make sure you wear something light. There's a bit of breeze but maynot be enough to keep you cool. Enjoy!

yes, went to Flutes in the end and fantastic...great setting, very buzzy as there were some bigger tables as well as an indian 50th in the main dining room who had their reception outside first and the service is the best i've had in sing so far!
