buying new/used musical instruments

Post by garden0fgraves » Sun, 19 Mar 2006 7:17 pm

does anyone have any idea where i could buy hard-to-find musical instruments? i've been looking for a celtic harp that has at least 22 strings and is affordable. i don't mind getting a used one as long as it's still in playable condition.

i tried making a harp a few years back when i was in school, but nearly got suspended when my teachers discovered that i had been sawing up wooden desks and cupboards.

Try a few of the stores located in the basement of the Excelsior Shopping centre conveniently located at the Excelsior Hotel. I know there are a few shops there that specialise in stringed instruments (i.e. guitars and basses, fiddles, chellos etc etc) and I remember seeing a couple of harps there only a couple weeks back and having a play...didn't sound heavenly at all! But then again, probably helps if you know what you're doing! Good luck in your search!

It's along hill street, beside funan centre- the IT mall. It used to be Singapore's highest hotel back then and a landmark.

Or you could get in touch with the St. Patrick's society - they might know someone.

Failing that try ebay

Are you making the harp for yourself ? Do you play ? I used to play the flute and would like to play again. Would you be interested in playing in ensemble (only with me, in this case) ?

Try the website for Luther Music. Also another Singapore musician's website called "SOFT". They both have an extensive Music forum / classifieds section
