How old are they?? I heard western airlines recruit old applicants, even 50 year-olds..

Passengers will die of heart attack!!
Yep they do recruit mature applicants there. They need to look presentable of course. An American friend of mine told me he know someone who just joined an airline last year and she's around the age of 40.
are you sure?? I've seen grandmothers of Western airlines working as stewardesses!! And they definitely not presentable..eww...my friend once on SIA and a stewardess age about 40 year-old wanted to wake him up. He screamed out loud because of the stewardess' scary face.

This is nothing unusual on western airlines, I mentioned in the SIA thread that British Airways for example has no upper age limit for cabin crew applicants nor can it refuse employment on the grounds of sex or marital status (sex discrimination act 1975).

UA jobs

Post by superpinkystar » Sat, 25 Mar 2006 4:40 pm

from what i heard and read on the papers.United Airlines went into a crisis in 2001 after the 911 incident. they started retrenching people and closing offices in the region. i had a friend who was offered to be a steward in the early 2001. however, he rejected the offer because he had a better job offer. 6 months later, the 911 incident happened.so they started retrenching people.

so it has been 5 years since they started recruiting asian people on board. the salary i heard was being paid in US. not sure bout it though.
*smile always

Hi, I did not attach a pic of myself but my resume have my photo. Im not an exp FA. Just went for the interview today. Out of my group of 16, 14 of them were either ex-UA crew or ex-SIA crew with two still currently in service. Hmm...all 14 got into the 2nd round with me and the other guy didnt. So i guess they are looking for exp crew.

Most of my group members are in their 30s.
The interview process is quite casual BUT do remember to attend in formal dress code. One girl was rejected as she was in a spaghetti dress and boots

For the first 15min, the panel of four will give a brief background about UA and each of us is given a short passage to read with one question for eg: what do you think is excellent customer service? OR tell us about an unforgetable flight experience. Everyone will get a different question. If you pass this round you will go for the 1-1 then you will attend the 3rd round within the next few days.

Paywise is about 34k p.a. Training will be conducted in US for 5 weeks and another 2 weeks in asia for flight training. Hope it helps. Good luck to those who are going for the interview.

Hi this time round they are only recruiting around 130 FA. The lady told us that there are 2000 plus applications. If you have not heard from them by now, most prob you are not shortlisted. try again when they recruit next time. :)
